NEVER do your hair when you're in a rush.

....People have told me this many times before but until today i've never understood why. NOw I KNOW. First off , let me give you a recap of these last couple days. Monday night : i knew i would be gone gor a couple days but i still wanted to test a concoction i made up that consisted of water, spa nourish condish, and aloe vera gel. I have heard that this mixture (if mixed together in the right proportions) makes a great styling aid that defines your curls... Needless to say, i mixed the ingredients together blindly and it turned out very GRAINY and watery. I have no idea why it turned out this way but it did. SO, me not wanting to waste anything, especially not my staple Trader Joes Nourish Spa Conditioner, i used it anyway. The end result was soft hair but not really defined :( . Tuesday : Spending the day with my best friend , i laid around the house with wild hair and did absolutley nothing but sleep. While sleeping , i just let my hair be free (THIS was the mistake)Wednesday Afternoon: In a rush to see my boyfriend, I ran in the shower attempted to detangle my neglected hair and then slapped in some Kinky Culy Knot Today & Curling Custard . When i tell you it was a headache and i lost so much hair it was ridiculous ! Never again will i rush through my hair. Currently it feels very....weird, to say the least. It feels slightly dry and i have a feeling my hair is more tangled then it was originally. I guess i have some pampering to do tomorrow :). Deep Condition? I think so!

Life of a curly, Nakayla <3

[Sidenote] .. I have this slight urge to straighten my hair.... oh no . I swear, it seems like i would learn from the heat damage i already have...

the Challenge (:

Hello ! My name is nakayla . I am 17 years of age and I live in Atlanta. I have created this blog to share my natural hair experience during the CurlsOfJoy challenge. I decided to do this challenge for many reasons. As any other natural gal I , of course, would lovee growth retention, less shedding, and healthy hair but , my main goal is to KNOW MY HAIR. Over the course of the past 5 months or so i've been very back and fourth. Some months i would straighten my hair and other months i would wear it natural. I would do this because i was so overwhelmed with my natural hair. I had no idea how to work with it. Now, I am becoming much more patient with my hair and i am slowly learning what it does and doesnt like. Its a hard process but, i know that in the end it will all be worth it (: . I'm hoping this challenge will help me STAY NATURAL. Being back and fourth is creating alot of heat damage and frizz  and it s u c k s!

So until next time , Good luck and let the challenge begin (:
